okay,

each time I try to access a 4.2 mounted /dev/sd1a, the system crashes
with MMU fault. (for example, "cp /bin/ls /mnt")

So the install script crashes exactly at the point where /etc/fstab
is to be created.

Leo, your conservative kernel is already compiled? :)
