Very probably: yes. Especially X needs a lot of memory.

I'm not sure, but I guess it will work. If I remember well, there were some
MMU-faults reported but there never has been a further report on this.

No, there were some fixes to the Xserver a few months ago for the 19" because
it showed reverse video. The current Xserver should work ok.
