cats won't boot...again. :)

i was trying to switch my cats machine from current to the head of the
1.6 branch, and now it says this when i tell it to boot:

        boot> boot wd0a:netbsd.aout
        non-secure file, will not load
        Operation not permitted
        boot> 

drat.  any ideas?
