You can create a swap partition during the disklabel procedure.
Personally, I've run it without a swap partition and just swap to a file,
which I find more flexible.  Also, I don't think you need much swap for a
qube.  For their designed purposes, they get by fine with small amounts of
RAM.

Officially, they're still using 2.0 kernels, though patches exist for 2.4
series.  The software is maintained on a fix-only-the-broken-stuff basis.
Basically, since the product is EOLd they've left it grow stale.
