hi there.  a few people have mentioned (both here and on dcdev) that they're
having trouble with winzip and .tar files.  in the winzip "configuration"
dialog, on the "miscellaneous" tab, is an option "TAR file smart CR/LF
conversion".  turning this off should help clear up the
winzip-messing-up-tar-files issue...
