That's correct - EMACS stands for Editing MACroS. PDP10 EMACS was written
in TECO. (Lots of things are in TECO. Some of the system-generation
sequence for TOPS-10 was a TECO macro.)

RMS also worked on chunks of the ITS. He offends people now and then, but
he's not that bad a person.
