I want to build the system myself, mainly cause I hope to be updating the
thing from time to time. Grabbing fresh snapshots seems to get old. Plus,
I'd like to understand the build process a bit more...Like, why the build
broke where it did and if there's a way to recover without recompiling
everything.

Yeah, populating /dev won't be too difficult.

I'd love to mount things via NFS eventually, but my BBA hasn't arrived
yet. :) I just want to get the thing up and running. Eventually I will
burn a CD with just a kernel set to look for root via bootp/dhcp and use
everything else via NFS, but that can't happen till my BBA arrives.
