IIRC, the "mount" command is needed to clear the condition created
by opening the lid.   This is so that you can't swap the disc without
the software noticing (an important feature in a game console, I'm
sure... :).

It should be equivalent to command "24" using the gdrom BIOS (call
0xbc).
