Re: ERLITE frozen in rc script after switching to GCC 5.4

Thank you for your messages.

I wonder if anything from:

is at play here? I've recently built a release from scratch which includes
this update, but I haven't booted it yet.

I booted this release via NFS without incident. I was then able to
complete updating the installation on the SD card (kernel on wd0).

Upon rebooting with the SD-card root, during the fontconfig cache update,
the following message appeared:

  pmap_tlb_update_addr(0x98000000bfac7a38,0x786dc000,0x2e61e1e, 0) returned 0

The startup process completed without further incident.

This is only one such attempt, so possibly not representative.

Unfortunately, this commit does not improve my situation. I tried several
reboots after updating kernel and userland to yesterday's current on ERLITE.
It occasionally boots up, but still fails into random freezes in the rc
script. Whereas, I've never seen error messages from pmap.

Maybe kern/51531: Recent networking regression affecting installs?

I think that this problem is not probably related to mine. This is because

(1) In this PR, the network connection fails, but the system itself seems
to work. In my case, the system completely freezes, and it cannot even
enter DDB.

(2) In this PR, the network does not work at all. However, it does in my
case; the root partition can be mounted via NFS, and the rc script is
partially processed. Then, it hangs at random places, e.g.,
"Building databases: dev,", "Starting ntpd.", or "Starting sshd.".

Thanks,
Rin
