Hi folks.

I've been having some troubles since at least 1.2C that haven't been
resolved.  In fact, I mailed the list a while ago about some of them, but
never got a response.

For starters, my hp370 has three 7939H drives and one 7959B drive on the
fast HPIB.  It gets up to the point where it says:
boot device: rd0
root on rd0a swap on rd0b
root file system type: ffs

Then it hangs.  The boot drive remains flashing at about 2 Hz, but nothing
ever happens.  Turning off the 7959B allows my system to boot, but I'd like
to be able to use it.

Next thing isn't really a problem per se, but a curiosity.  With the 7959B
off (only 7939H drives on the chain), after it recognizes each drive during
autoconf, it waits five seconds and says "hpibbus1: swait timeout", waits
five seconds and repeats again, then again before moving onto the next
drive.

This only started happening after 1.2C.

And finally, some questions about my 9145 tape drive.

The first time after inserting a cart, trying to make a new tar on the tape
(using /dev/rct8), it says:

And lastly, I got a hold of a stack of tapes for the 9145, but many of them
are old software updates that I'll never use.  When I insert them into the
drive, the "protect" light turns on and I can't write to the tapes.  This
is altogether different than when I flip the "protect" tab on the front of
the tape.

Is there any way to convince the tape that it is no longer read-only?
