Debian Etch for PARISC 4.0R0 is broken currently, and people are working on the
problem, which might eminate from linux threads, or a gcc glitch (it is not clear
just yet) but apparently Sarge 3.R4 might work, as may the current Gentoo PARISC
distro ... you might want to try either an earlier Debian or the current Gentoo
as a stopgap. Ideally, of course, one would run a BSD (NetBSD or even OpenBSD).
