Hello Scott,
Just sit down, relax and take a look onto
www.netbsd.org/Ports/hpcmips/install.txt
If you are doubting what options to use with fdisk
i would like to suggest fdisk -u wd1
disklabel -e wd1 may let you create a valid disklabel
(a partition is just an amount of sectors with an offset and a size)
a: for the root partition (could be the whole netbsd part)
b: for swap (I agree with Warner Losh to set this size to 0)
c: for the netbsd part of the disk
d: for the whole disk
e-h: feel free to assign anything useful
...
I think that 2 suggestions are missing in
www.netbsd.org/Ports/hpcmips/install.txt
1. ln -s /usr/share/zoneinfo/Europe/Berlin /etc/localtime
(Only if you're living in Germany)
2. passwd -l
Have fun and tell us about your experiences
