- of course! use the tvtwm X window manager...
- in the default tvtwmrc file (found under /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/twm as
system.tvtwmrc after installation), use:
VirtualDesktop "2x2"
- (or "2x3" or "3x3"); you can copy this file as .tvtwmrc to your home
directory and edit for your tastes; for example, i put my favorite clients
in its root menu and deleted unwanted items, such as raising windows,
etc.)
- don't forget to restart X (this is all standard 'X' stuff, and works on
any Linux/BSD system)
- try experimenting w/other window managers... you should be adept by now
at using the pkg_add utility... e.g., download the package, then depending
on where it should go:
pkg_add -v -p /usr/X11R6 tvtwm.tgz
(btw, fvwm didn't work for me and dumped core; or was it fvwm2? i
originally pursued this route as the window manager supports use of the
keyboard for a mouse, but thanks to greg h, is no longer desired...
anyway, it doesn't matter, because i have *no* intention of running KDE on
the z50; the twm and tvtwm window managers are frugal on memory)
