Hi Miles,
your theory is not wrong, but i mentioned a very special class of devices=
:
NEC MobilePro 770, Sharp Mobilon Tripad PV6000 and Vadem Clio 1000
I've tried all 3 of them and can confirm that they are not able to supply=
a power peak that is necessary to use Microdrive 340MB and Toshiba 2G dri=
ve
as root.
Older WinCE2.0 devices like Sharp Mobilon HC4500 and Compaq 2010C
behave exactly the way you described. (Sharp Mobilon HC4500 collapses
with a Toshiba 2G drive, Microdrive works fine)
And using them according to your boot method works fine.
