You are correct. CF <-> PC Card adapters are just wires (and in some
cases minor passive components). The electrical interface is the
same. However, you may find that some CF cards only work in systems
that support 3.3V cards. The CF to PC Card adapters, btw, do
eliminate a few I/O lines (well, CF has fewer of them), but that
usually doesn't matter...
