I am trying to get email set up using the NetBSD guide (Chapter 24.   
Mail and News).  I am stuck at one of the first steps, setting up  
postfix.

hostname yields "moby.mad.wi.charter.com", so I set up /etc/postfix/ 
generic like so:

isen@moby.mad.wi.charter.com	isen@uwemail.edu
root@moby.mad.wi.charter.com	isen@uwemail.edu

(As an aside, I assume the domain information after "moby" will  
change when I am on another network.  How do I make the entries in / 
etc/postfix/generic work for any network? The "isen@moby" part will  
be the same.  I am thinking something like "isen@moby.*", but using  
whatever specific syntax the generic file needs to signify that.)

then I used postmap to create the db

I then edited /etc/postfix/main.cf to add the relayhost and  
smtp_generic_maps lines

I tried both

smtp_generic_maps = hash:/etc/postfix/generic

and

smtp_generic_maps = hash:/etc/postfix/generic.db

Now when I send a mail to 'isen' using sendmail, the received mail  
always says the mail is from 'isen@moby.mad.wi.charter.com', instead  
of substituting the 'isen@uwemail.edu' address from /etc/postfix/ 
generic.

Any help?
