Can you post the complete dmesg?

What is the CF card that you use?  I remember I bought a Kingston card
that my Fujitsu Pocket LOOX refused to recognize at all, but that my
680 recognized ok.  May be your 680 refuses to recognize this CF too
(admittedly I have zero clue as to why)?
