I wouldn't waste time on 2.0. It misses some important pcmcia fixes,
some new drivers, etc.
I'd suggest to have -current and 3.x setups available. NFS root, use
CF only for the hpcboot and kernels. It's easier to upgrade userland
if necessary, and you don't waste time on fsck after kernel crashes
(that are to be expected during development ;).
-current is where the development happens. Fixes are only pulled up
from the -current to release branches. 3.x setup is necessary for
testing the fixes before the pull up.
Userland can be shared, probably. Or one can play DHCP tricks to
serve different roots to different kernels.
An interesting option is too have 3.x setup on the CF and nfs setup
for current, so that you can carry a "stable" system, but still do the
debugging/development with current.
