Hmm, I thought so; but what's wrong with this?

xmodmap -pke says (among others):

keycode  24 = q Q at grave

But xev reports:

    state 0x8, keycode 24 (keysym 0x71, q), same_screen YES,
    XLookupString gives 1 characters:  "q"


So what's wrong?
