I installed a SMC Elite 16C Ultra, and configured it with their software
under DOS. The configuration software chose its favorite values for
irq, port, and buffer address. I copied that down, booted NetBSD, and
configured a kernel...and it just worked. That was back with
0.9. Then 1.0 just worked. Then -current. So I've always thought
SMC Ultras were the easiest boards in the world.

My system chose:

port 300, mem d800, irq 11.
