I have installed NetBSD on a number of pentiums from DEC with great
success. They all have a NCR SCSI chip on the motherboard. Lately
DEC has been shipping a new line, "Celebris". The only obvious
difference between these PCs and the older ones is a different version
of the BIOS.
NetBSD will not install on any Celebris. It dies when I try to write
the disklabel with these messages:
ncr0: reset by timeout.
sd0(ncr0:0:0): FAST SCSI-2 100ns (10Mb/sec) offset 0.
ncr0: reset by timeout.
sd0(ncr0:0:0): FAST SCSI-2 100ns (10Mb/sec) offset 0.
ncr0: reset by timeout.
disklabel: /dev/rsd0d: assertion "cp == np->header.cp" failed: file "../../../../dev/pci/ncr.c", line 5175
ncr0 targ 0?: ERROR (80:100:ab) (0/13) @ (2600cc:e000000)
ncr0: restart (fatal error).
DOS and Linux do work on these machines.
I can provide more info as needed. Any suggestions?
