I'm looking for hardware reference manuals on the ix86-compatible-based
motherboards.  I feel a bit uneducated when people start talking about
the i-whatever coffee-maker-controller and I want some good (cheap) references.

I suppose I could get the Intel databooks, but I don't know which ones to get
and it might be expensive.

Suggestions directly to me.  Will post compilation if requested.  Thanks.
