Alt-Ctrl-F2 works for me, but it's full of garbage as well from loadfont.

Did you ever find out more about the loadfont vs. Matrox issue?  I haven't
had time lately to check into it (been busy recompiling the world with 1.1).

I plan on tinkering with this soon (as I told Hellmuth), but I don't want to
re-invent efforts that you've done.
