The most used and recommended motherboard, as far as I've seen, is
Asus. I own one, and I know of several people who also own one --
they're very high quality, fast, and they work.
SCSI controller -- NCR 53c8xx-based (Asus has one of these really
inexpensive), Adaptec 2940, or BusLogic BT9[45][68].
