[I'm in the process of moving to 1.3alpha]
I have an AST 4 port card with 16550s in a P133 (istari). Each of
the ports connects to the serial console of a different machine. One
of them is my old sun3 (amaterasu) file server... it seems to be
having problems recently, and crashes...
When it crashes, and winds up in ddb, *and* istari has not got a
kermit open on that port, starting up kermit freezes istari. No DDB,
no network, nothing. Big-red-switch time.
I have now put a kermit under a screen, so that even if I log off
(which my wife makes me do, since I've convert her PC to an
X-terminal, since my other sun3 X-term died too...) I won't have to
exit kermit.
I am curious to know how to fix this. Could there be a problem doing
comopen() when the FIFO has characters already in it? I have backed
the 16650 patches that I had from Doug out, btw.
