On 13-Apr-98 Todd Vierling spoke unto us all:
# : floppy probe and just wedges. It detects the existing drive fine.. but it
# : wedges after detecting fd0. (The only drive in the machine)
#
# I'm not totally sure whether it's the floppy probe that dies or not.
# "ENOTENOUGHINFORMATION." :)
Nor I.. I'm going to try a kernel with the fd? stuff replaced with fd0. If
that works.. then it singles out the floppy probe.
# - What is the manufacturer of the box? Is it by chance a Dell or Gateway
# 2000?
Its just a generic MB and CPU. Nothing fancy.
# - Have you tried the 1.3.1, not 1.3, install floppy? Those are now
# available and have several fixes.
No.. but I have a hard time beleiving that is the fix.. 1.3 has worked fine
for me on 4 other machines.. why would it die on this one only? Besides.. as
Perry pointed out.. this is a "known bad" I'm not sure what steps need be
taken to resolve it.. or what the exact problem is..
