Subject: 3c589 PCMCIA Problem
To: None <port-i386@NetBSD.ORG>
From: Jim Griner <jgriner@lerc.nasa.gov>
List: port-i386
Date: 06/16/1998 12:23:55
I have been battling for nearly a week trying to install a 3COM 3c589d card
in my Panasonic CF-35 laptop.
The card seems to be polled, but an "CISTPL_LINKTARGET expected, code ff
observed" stops the card setup. Appended are the dmesg output and kernel
config file.
I have turned on all the DIAGNOSTIC portions of the pcmcia code, and have
even added a few printf's (PCMCIA is running function #) to help me debug
the problem.
In two instances, after I inserted some printf's, the card seemed to be
successfully polled. However, it returned an ethernet address of all
zeros, and promptly disconnected from the ep driver. This leads me to
think it may be a timing problem....
For the appended dmesg output, the card was set at 0x350 and irq 9. I
have tried various other settings.
I am currently stumped.
Thanks in advance, for any help.
dmesg output follows
