Could you try to increase the number of MBUF clusters ? Just do this by
recompiling a kernel with, e.g 
options NMBCLUSTERS=1024
in your kernel config file. The default is 256, or 512 if you have
'options GATEWAY' defined, but it's always too low for a server.
