Ack, sorry, I got sidetracked then forgot I was going to say something

Also, I don't know if it matters, but the BIOS on the problem machine
doesn't support drives with more than 1024 cylinders. It autodetects the
geometry, then prints a warning saying that it's reduced the number of
cylinders to 1024. I've tried manually entering the geometry (as 1024
cyl, 16 heads, 63 sectors/track) instead of letting it autodetect, but
that didn't change anything.
