Nope, same problem. The first two octets of the MAC address are still
wrong. I wonder if 3Com is trying to save a few bytes, since really only
the last 4 octets differ between their cards. Doesn't seem worth the
bother, though.

The boot messages, BTW, are:
pcmcia1 at pcic0 controller 0 socket 1
pcmcia1: CIS version 2.0 or 2.01
pcmcia1: CIS info: 3Com Corporation, 3C589D, TP/BNC LAN Card Ver. 2a, 000002
pcmcia1: Manufacturer code 0x101, product 0x589

pcmcia1: function 0, config table entry 1: I/O card; irq mask ffff; iomask 4, io

pcmcia1: function 0, config table entry 3: I/O card; irq mask ffff; iomask 4, io

ep1: MAC address ff:fc:4b:a0:36:ca
ep1: 8KB byte-wide FIFO, 5:3 Rx:Tx split, utp/aui/bnc (default utp)

Can anyone point me at a location in the 1.3.2 source where I could
hard-code the MAC address, just so I can get this working? I tried in
/sys/dev/pcmcia/if_ep_pcmcia.c but failed.
