Production box:  /, /usr, /home (only because it's a separate disk), and MFS
/tmp.  /var/tmp is a symlink to /tmp.

Home development machines - NFS server: /, MFS /tmp.  /var/tmp is a symlink
to /tmp.

Clients: /, NFS /usr (only if / is a local disk), MFS /var.  /tmp is a
symlink to /var/tmp.  MFS /var is populated in /etc/netstart.local.

These days I find more than a couple partitions `overkill', even on `big'
disks.  The sysadmin at work partitioned the disk on my workstation to six
partitions plus swap on an 800MB disk; I nearly beat him over the head, and
repartitioned it to just / and swap.
