Has anyone successfully used a Compex ENET 16U ethernet adaptor in 16 bit
mode?

This is an old SMC 80x3 clone, with 16 MB on board memory and a 16bit
bus, but it probes as a SMC 8003, so the we driver switches to 8 bit mode and
8 k RAM.

Simply forcing it to 16 bit (with flags 4) doesn't work (all ethernet packets
send consist of all zeros).
