Hello,
After upgrading to NetBSD 1.4 (and switching to the version of XFree86
that comes with NetBSD) I have noticed some strange new behavior with my
Number Nine Motion 771 (S3-968 based) video card.
I start my X Window System sessions using the startx script. When I
close my X Window session I get returned to the NetBSD command line
(as I should), but at that point about the first 23 lines of my display
contain the delete character (decimal 127 from my ASCII table) on a gray
background with a white foreground. When I was using NetBSD 1.3.3 and
XFree86 3.3.3.1, this never happened. I have modified my startx script
to simply do a "clear" after the X server shuts down, and that only solves
the problem some of the time. Most of the time, I see the screen clear
and then the screen is filled with the delete character. This happens when
I use the GENERIC kernel and the S3 X server.
Anyone have a clue as to why this is happening?
Brian
