It's been a while since I had to do this, so BIOS may have changed.  Further,
I am confident that you can find some bios that either proves or disproves
any assertion you'd like to make.  But all you are doing here is supplying
a CHS to a bios read call.  I don't see why there should be any other 
restriction.
