Very old Adaptec controllers use a BIOS geometry of (I think) xxx/64/32;
somewhat newer Adaptecs (or, for example, a 1542B with new ROMs) use
something larger (xxx/128/64?). You need to use a geometry which agrees with
that in order to boot. (Frankly, I always found it fairly convenient, since
each "cylinder" is a binary megabyte.)
(By the way, does anyone have access to an EPROM burner that can handle 27C128
chips? I've been meaning to upgrade my old 154B...)
