Hi,
I've just upgraded my laptop from 1.4 to the 20000213-snapshot and sound
has stoped working.
dmesg with 1.4:
sb0 at isa0 port 0x220-0x237 irq 5 drq 1: dsp v3.01
midi0 at sb0: <SB MIDI UART>
audio0 at sb0: half duplex
opl0 at sb0: model OPL3
midi1 at opl0: <SB Yamaha OPL3>
wss0 at isa0 port 0x530-0x537 irq 5 drq 0 drq2 1: CS4231 or AD1845
audio1 at wss0: full duplex
dmesg with 1.4T (sources from Feb 22nd):
sb0 at isa0 port 0x220-0x237 irq 5 drq 1: dsp v3.01
audio0 at sb0: half duplex, mmap, independent
midi0 at sb0: SB MIDI UART
opl0 at sb0: model OPL3
midi1 at opl0: SB Yamaha OPL3
wss0 at isa0 port 0x530-0x537 irq 5 drq 0 drq2 1: CS4231 or AD1845
audio1 at wss0: full duplex, mmap
It's an OPL3-SA3 (The laptop has a Neomagic MagicMedia 256AV iirc the audio
is integrated into the video hardware?), i tried using the ym? at pnpbios
driver, but with no luck:
ym0 at pnpbios0 index 20 (YMH0021)
ym0: io 220-22f 530-537 388-38f 300-301 100-101, irq 5, dma 0
ym0: OPL3-SA3
audio0 at ym0: full duplex, mmap
pnpbios0: bogus drq -1
panic: _isa_dmamem_alloc
The symptoms are:
When trying to play an mp3 with mpg123 0.59r to audio0 (the soundblaster emul
part of the device) it appears to hang after writing the first second or so,
and no sound is heard, it also pauses on close for a few seconds.
Using audio1 gives rather noisy static.
I've tried playing samples directly with audioplay, but still get static.
