I tried to install the new snapshopt (20000527) on three PCs with
token ring network cards. Only the last one (3) has an officially
supported card so I didn't expect the first two to work. All PCs
and cards are from IBM. These are the results:
1) IBM 300GL with IBM Turbo 16/4 Token-Ring
tr2 at isapnp0 port 0x300/4 mem 0xc8000/8192 irq 7
tr2: IBM Turbo 16/4 Token-Ring ISA A IBM Turbo 16/4 uvm_fault(0xc04ca500,
0x1000, 0, 3) -> 1
kernl: page fault trap, code=0
Stopped in swapper at 0xc012d23e: mvb $0x40,0(%eax,%edx,1)
2) IBM 300GL with IBM Token Ring PCI
vendor 0x1014 product 0x003e (token ring network, revision 0x46) at pci0
dev 18 function 0 not configured
3) IBM 330 - P75 with IBM Auto 16/4 Token-Ring ISA
isapnp0: No current device for tag, card 1
tr2 at isapnp0 port 0xa20/4 mem 0xc0000/16384, 0xc8000/8192 irq 9
tr2: IBM Auto 16/4 Token-Ring ISA Ad Initialization incomplete, status: ff
If I try to configure the network, sysinst says:
I can not find any network interfaces for use by NetBSD
- Is there any chance that I can get machine #3 to work?
- Will machine #2 work if I configure the Turbo card in Auto 16/4
emulation mode (I tried with LANAIDC but was not successful)?
- Is there a plan to support the IBM Token Ring PCI?
