There is no real problem (and many advantages) with having a disk layer
driver like "ccd" that binds to an encrypted block device (accepting a
password from the console at bind) and creates a non-encrypted block
device. Then you could easily mount /usr and friends from it, and with a
little tinkering of the initialisation code, even use it for your root
partition!
