When I do this...
useradd -m -c "John Smith" -G wheel smith
...to create a new user. And then when I try to log in
as "smith" I get asked a password which I did not set
like this...
login: smith
Password:
...I did not set a password. I did not go into vipw. So
is there a default password? Or alternately, how do I
make the "already-encrypted" password to use in vipw?
REASON I NEED THIS: I messed with the MSDOS partitions
and it caused NetBSD to not boot. So I did a total re-
install on the whole disk. One big partition for Win32
so I can install MSIE 5 (used by OptiPerl). But now, I
am doing things over in NetBSD. No probs on the install,
except for this new-user password enigma.
Thanks in advance,
Gan in Kalamazoo
