Hello!

My best guess at the moment is that the network interface
card's i/o or IRQ settings might not match what the kernel
expects.  The card came with a driver diskette, which had a
setup program that runs under DOS. I'm going home to collect
a laptop and a null-modem cable. The machine's primary fixed
disk is DOS bootable, so I should be able to check this out
and who knows, perhaps even fix the problem.
