Just got the same cksum(1) results for kern-GENERIC.tgz from ftp.netbsd.org:/pub/NetBSD/arch/i386/snapshot/20020410-1.5ZC-XFree86-4.2.0/binary/sets
and...
alph: {19} gzip -tv kern-GENERIC.tgz
kern-GENERIC.tgz:
gzip: kern-GENERIC.tgz: invalid compressed data--crc error
alph: {20}
At least you're not alone in this one.
