I tried a 1.5Z kernel from the 21. June (?) snapshot and this
works like a charm. Much better than with Win ME installed on the
same machine :-)

So this did not make it into 1.5.3 I assume, which is a pitty.

mount_msdos /dev/sd0e /mnt 
does the trick.
