Just for the record: I had the same error on NetBSD/i386 1.6.1
after an uptime of about 40 days.

I had a printer connected to port 1 which worked well until
yesterday. Neither re-plugging the usb connector nor power
cycling the printer solved the problem. I tried both USB ports
with no luck. After a reboot, everything was fine again.
