Thanks Brian for your advice. I did the above and enabled ACPI,
and it would still crash. However, when I disabled pcmcia+pcic
& cardbus+cbb the modified general kernel would boot with ACPI
enabled.

I have just taken the newest "ACPI-CA 20031203" changes uploaded
to current last night by Takayoshi Kochi <kochi@NetBSD.org>, and
rebuilt a new kernel with ACPI enabled. Unfortunately, when I
enable cardbus & pcmcia in the kernel, I still get the exact same
following error:

Brian, what type of Sony Vaio laptop do you have? Does it have
Intel Centrino?

Has anyone been able to get any Centrino laptop to work properly
under NetBSD? Does NetBSD have any support for the Centrino built
in Wi/Fi and ACPI implementations associated with it?

I have attached a copy of my kernel boot messages with the newest
ACPI changes uploaded by Takayoshi, but with the cardbus + pcmcia
disabled in order to get my JVC-Victor Interlink MP-XP7310 laptop
to boot successfully. Looking at these boot messages, it would
appear that a lot of ACPI stuff is still not working properly in
NetBSD with my laptop, but I could be wrong.

Takayoshi as the expert, could you please look over the kernel
boot messages below, and comment on whether or not it is okay?

Any additional assistance would be greatly appreciated. I need
to get the CardBus+PCMCIA slot, Wi/Fi, and Power Manager to all
work properly.

Thanks in advance.
Alicia.
