AFAIK, the problem is that there is no way in the kernel to ask for a consecutive
block of memory. Thus, when the memory is very fragmented, the USB device can't
map a single, big chunk of memory for its own uses. And, IIRC, this is not a
trivial job - though I agree, we should have this for USB to be usable.
