Hello,
I have upgraded a server from 1.6.2 to 2.0 and it seem that there is problem
with /dev creation or i'am missing something
I get this at boot:
root file system type: ffs
warning: no /dev/console
init: Creating mfs /dev (370 blocks, 896 inodes)
init: unknown device
Sat Dec 11 02:14:52 CET 2004
Checking for botched superblock upgrades: done.
Starting file system checks:

Can't stat /dev/wd0a: No such file or directory
CAN'T CHECK FILE SYSTEM.
/dev/wd0a: UNEXPECTED INCONSISTENCY; RUN fsck_ffs MANUALLY.
Automatic file system check failed; help!
Dec 11 02:14:54 init: /bin/sh on /etc/rc terminated abnormally, going to
single user mode
Enter pathname of shell or RETURN for /bin/sh:
So /dev is mounted but no dev files are created in it (execpt
console/MAKEDEV/MAKEDEV.local/null)...
If i do a ./MAKEDEV all of course it fail because the mfs is very small
It seem that the MAKEDEV version is old also (v1.175.2.3), from where the
MAKEDEV script is taken at boot ?
So i created a on disk /dev, but i'am wondering why i'am getting this.
Does /dev mfs creation work for someone ?
