That's RAID 0, then - striped, not mirrored.

Unlikely, as the controller presents the two disks as one to the OS 
(NetBSD above).

Not really -- see PR kern/26825.

FWIW, we've replaced the mpt in one of the machines with a 
single-channel megaraid (amr(4)), and the box (web- & mailserver) has 
been running fine since.
