Thanks, I was worried I'd missed something obvious during my attempts 
with sysinst.

I don't know how easy it would be to change the install cd to contain 
and have sysinst make use of the required files but easiest for me 
would be just to have the files available on the cd with scripts to 
manually install from the sets. Least that should be done is to 
remove the option from sysinst until it's fixed.

I used the Live-CD to disklabel, newfs_lfs, installboot etc, as I had 
another problem with sysinst in that it saw all my DOS, Windows and 
Linux partitions and near filled disklabel with those, most of which 
I don't want to access from NetBSD anyway.
