I also struggled to build benchfft. At the point at which it fails
though, it had already built the fftw_test utility. I found it in:
pkgsrc/benchmarks/benchfft/work/fftw-2.0.1/tests
In there you'll find fftw_test and I ran it with the -r parameter. I ran
2 instances at the same time, you'll find at least one instance will
fail within a few hours.
