There was a report for lockups on Dell Inspiron 8000. The Linux driver
comments that this and the 8100 have a host bridge that falls apart
here. The check in NetBSD differs slightly as it seems to try to check
only for the ICH2, but that is supposed to be the problematic chipset.
Only other functional difference I can see is that we currently don't mask
interrupts complete during the transition.
This problem is at least not a concern for AMD64. Not sure about i386 as
the original problem reports don't include details.
